This book addresses the question of, “How well has the United States managed unsavoury alliances that poses high security threats, and what have been their consequences for its national security?” using the theoretical basis of a neoclassical realist theory and exemplified further through the three cases of U.S. Cold War era alliances: with China, Pakistan, and Iraq respectively.
